Our story is the story of four young artists, four boys coming from completely different backgrounds, who came together in the Ecole Superieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels in 2004.

We have enjoyed each other’s company from the start, and discovered right away that we clicked on a personal as well as a professional and artistic level. A common project developed, which consisted of uniting all of our artistic worlds.

The first step of this project took place in January 2006, as the class performed in a collective show. Our quartet received a warm reception as well as many encouragements.

We then worked on duos (diabolo/ball juggling by Vladimir and Luca; chinese pole by Gert and Kenzo) for the end of the second year performance.

Later on, in the summer of 2006, we travelled to Brittany with a street performance (Saint Malo, Dinan, Vannes, Piriac sur Mer, La Rochelle, ... altogether about 10 shows). The accolades from the audience further strengthened – if need be – our common goal of starting a collective show at the end of our studies in ESAC.

Our work is driven by a desire to keep our relationships thriving, to re-invent them every second. There is something organic in our common impulse, we come together as a family, a chosen and multifaceted family.

Carre Curieux is a laboratory for unlikely experiments, where we open new pathways thanks to cunning and playful relationships.

We play! That’s how we understand and appreciate each other.

Four lives that each follows its own path, all headed in the same direction:
fighting against stability and boredom. Throwing laughter in the face of human madness or ingenuity.
Treasuring the lightness of exchanges.
No words, only unusual objects and curious bodies.
No need to succeed, just the need to try together.
This is a voyage of twisted and reinvented circus arts.
To create different worlds, momentary flights of fancy, out of nowhere...
We don’t want to “do tricks”, we want to create a circus utopia ... a living circus !
